In June I am reading...

Not much time around here for me for reading at the moment.  The move is imminent and every spare second has been spent packing, organising, making arrangements, and just wishing we had moved already.  I did make it out to Brown Owls last weekend which was great.  The only other time I have to read is when I tumble in to bed at night, but I am so tired from the packing and lifting I can't read for long.  The book I am reading- on my Kindle due to the wrist damage from reading it last year in hardcover- is Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel.  It is a re-read before I start on Bring Up the Bodies, the second instalment.  I am so excited about it, I wish I was getting through Wolf Hall faster.  But it is not a book that can be read quickly, it demands full attention to the details.  I enjoyed it so much the last time I read it, and I am discovering it in a whole new way on the re-read.

Luckily A1 and A2 are having no problems with finding time to read.  A1 has a number of books on the go as usual.  Sister 2 has gifted her some great books in the past couple of months, including The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate by Jacqueline Kelly.  She has found it very hard to put down- she has told me it is up there with her favourite books of all time!

Also on A1's bedside table are the Inkheart Trilogy by Cornelia Funke- she is on the first book, Inkheart.
And the Max Remy Super Spy series- she is up to the fourth book.

A2 and I were happily reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets until she ordered a halt to proceedings after the first person was petrified.  A1 responded in the same way when we read the same book at around the same age, rediscovering the series a few years ago and absolutely loving it.  So we have put it to one side for now (although she insists on the book staying on her bedside table).  I thought we might try something a little lighter, and we are halfway through the first Tumtum and Nutmeg by Emily Bean.
Its so lovely to revisit A1's favourite books a few years later with A2.  However, we have just encountered the same problem that we had with Harry Potter.  A2 is not at all a fan of Aunt Ivy in the book, and has called a stop to Tumtum and Nutmeg as well!  I am going to try again tonight though, I hope she will give it a go.

Looking forward to next month, hopefully I will have started Bring Up the Bodies by then!
